Character Guides - Cherry - Abilities, Siphon - May 30, 2020

Power Surge

Pros

Cherry starts with Power Surge by default in Story Mode and Endless Dungeon, and is a healing ability that can heal as high as 50 HP.

Cons

Healing abilities are always good to have, and while 50 HP with a 20 second cooldown is not poor by any means (especially since Cherry can reduce need for healing by reducing damage dealt to her party), as far as other characters' healing abilities go, it is outmatched by Alberto's overall versatility of Light Magic, Jimmy's high base heal value of Heal and Claire's low cooldown/frequency of First Aid.

Violent Gust

Pros

Cherry starts with Violent Gust by default in Story Mode and Endless Dungeon, and it is a Knockback projectile that can reach a base damage of Attack x 4, a value that can be doubled by the Wind Siphon Field Effect (due to her Squall Strengthen passive), doubled again by having 4 Tornados out at once (technically this is due to Attack + 20 from it) and doubled again with her Hrunting weapon -- totaling to a value of Attack x 32. Violent Gust has a base cooldown of 15 seconds, but with the Wind Field Effect/Squall Strengthen, that cooldown is reduced to a very handy 5 seconds. This makes Violent Gust an ability with damage and frequency approaching her Bladecopter's Attack Chopper, but without its requirements for enemy death and precision. Under these conditions, Violent Gust is essentially Cherry's best offensive option.

Cons

Violent Gust loses its impressive power and cooldown without the Wind Field Effect, as it is not just Squall Strengthen that provides it with power, but her Tornado/Stormfront requires the Wind Field Effect to place multiple Tornados to provide her with a sizeable stat boost. Even with the Wind Field Effect, the Tornados' duration ending means a drop in Violent Gust's attack power.

Phantom Break

Pros

Phantom Break is a healing/revival ability that, with all passives, heals and/or revives for 30 HP and provides 3 seconds of invincibility to its target, with a cooldown of 15 seconds. The invincibility passive, Phantom Protect, allows Phantom Break to function as a way to protect and heal allies long distance, making it a very versatile ability.

Cons

In general, Phantom Break has no real negatives -- in particular, most healing abilities in Legends Corrupt generally have no disadvantages, due to there being few overall and their ease of use. Phantom Break's versatility as a revival and invincibility-imbuing ability also make its negatives small.

Dark Energy

Pros

Dark Energy applies an Attack debuff to all enemies that, with all passives, reduces their Attack stat by 15 for 10 seconds (essentially making high attack enemies deal average damage and average attack enemies deal low damage). It is very simple to apply, so it can fit in well with builds based around Body, Wind Siphon or no Field Effect with ease as a damage mitigation tool.

Cons

Dark Energy has a final cooldown of 25 seconds, which is quite lengthy and means there will be gaps when its 10 second duration ends. Cutthrough can be invested in more a second application of Dark Energy, but requires both investment of Augmentors into it and dealing with its accuracy issues.

Tornado

Pros

A Tornado is placed on the battlefield and lasts for 5 seconds, inflicting damage and Knockback every second to any enemy that touches it, making for a very effective defensive shield for an area. Cherry can gain Attack and Defense boosts based on the number of Tornados in play, and with the Wind Field Effect active, Cherry can place 4 Tornados with one use of her Tornado ability, with these 4 Tornados doubling her base Attack stat from 20 to 40. Tornado's need for the Wind Field Effect and its stat boost gives it great synergy with Violent Gust, which Cherry has by default and either needs no Augmentors for or can learn passives from Tornado's Soul Triad tree.

Cons

Tornado itself deals pitiful damage, as it is meant mainly to be a defensive/Knockback zone that buffs Cherry's Attack and Defense while in play. Unfortunately, Violent Gust is the only ability that really benefits from the Tornado attack boosts, since both require the Wind Field Effect to be active and the constant Knockback of the 4 Tornados and the frequent Wind Field Effect windbursts mess with Bladecopter's need for precision. Like Violent Gust, Tornado is best invested in if going for a Wind Field Effect build for your team. Its 20 second cooldown also makes it available to deploy less frequently.
