Demo release! - August 29, 2015

Skylight Freerange 2: Gachduine's demo has now been released and is found at http://www.dragoon.ca/skylightgachduine.html. The full version will be released on August 31. The XNA 3.1 Redistributable is required (and included) with both the demo and the full version.

Since Skylight Freerange 2: Gachduine can import save files from Skylight Freerange 1 in place of choosing the setting's past on New Game, Skylight Freerange 1 was also patched to V. 1.1 and can be found at http://www.dragoon.ca/skylightfreerange.html. It seemed unethical (or at the very least, in poor taste) to leave fixes and improvements, most notably to overall performance, memory management and speed, out of Freerange 1 when they were discovered in Freerange 2, as Freerange 1 is not only used for imports, but uses the same engine.

The demo of Gachduine, depending on various factors (how much the player does outside of the main quest, the overall speed of the player, the difficulty selected, etc) should give the player roughly 30 minutes to 2.5 hours of playtime. It should also be noted that there is an invisible barrier just north of Halifax, as the player cannot advance any further unless they have the full version.

As far as playing Gachduine, keep in mind that there is an in-game Reference to explain or expand on various concepts past the introduction/tutorial quest (this thread, too, despite the walls of text, has plenty of information that can be used to understand parts of Gachduine).

Remember to save often (you can save anytime you aren't in battle or a cutscene) and activate the Green Lampposts when you see them (they create a Lamppost auto-save for you), and first-time players to the Skylight Freerange series should stay away from the Impossible difficulty. Gachduine's difficulty on its own is higher than past Dragoon games, and Impossible difficulty often gave me trouble (despite creating the game and knowing its nuances).

Keep in mind, too, that save files from the demo can be transferred to the full version.

I hope you enjoy Skylight Freerange 2: Gachduine!
